The destination calendar controls where a Google Calendar event is stored and which calendar sharing rules apply. Choose it before saving, especially when a personal calendar, project calendar, and shared team calendar are all available in the same account.
Open the calendar selector
Create the event on a computer and enter its title and details. In the event editor, find the calendar name beside the calendar control and open its dropdown. Google’s creation guidance says the list shows calendars on which you can create events.
Choose the intended destination
Select the correct calendar by name and context, not only its display color. A calendar can be visible without granting permission to add events. Google’s help also notes that Birthday and Holiday calendars are not destinations for ordinary created events.
Review the destination’s sharing rules before entering private material. A team event saved accidentally on a public calendar can expose information even when its title sounds routine.
Verify ownership and access context
Save and reopen the event, then confirm the calendar shown in its details. Check whether the intended collaborators can find it and whether its organizer and creator information are appropriate. If the wrong calendar was selected, investigate the narrow move workflow before creating another copy. Moving an event and transferring ownership can have different effects, particularly for guests and conferencing. Selecting a destination is a substantive part of event creation; it should not be left as an unnoticed default when the calendar determines who can read or manage the resulting appointment.
