Answer a Google Meet Poll and Check Its Voting Rules

A Google Meet poll accepts a submitted vote that cannot be changed afterward. Read the question, options, and anonymity setting before selecting Vote. Polls can gather a preference, but they do not automatically establish that every invited person participated.

Open the active poll

When the moderator launches a poll, look for the meeting notification. On a computer, open Meeting tools and Polls, then locate the question. Mobile users can respond to polls even though they cannot create them. If the question is missing, ask whether it has actually been launched, is still a draft, or has already ended. Avoid opening a second meeting connection simply to search for it.

Check the choice before submitting

Select the response that matches your answer and then click Vote. Google’s guidance says you cannot change a response after submitting it. If the choices are ambiguous or omit your situation, ask the moderator for clarification before voting. Submit before the poll or meeting ends. Do not assume selecting an option without pressing Vote records the response.

Understand the privacy and result limits

For named polls, the moderator’s report includes names and answers. For anonymous responses, Google says identifying details are hidden from other participants, moderators, and the Workspace administrator, while the response itself is shared with Google and handled under its retention policy. Follow the poll’s displayed mode rather than assuming every poll is anonymous. Results appear to participants only when the moderator enables that visibility. If you cannot see totals, it does not establish that your vote failed. Check the submitted state available in the poll and ask the moderator about results visibility separately from whether responses are still being accepted.
