A Google Meet live-stream viewer watches the meeting through a broadcast experience rather than joining with an active camera and microphone. Open the intended audience link with the appropriate account and check whether the host has started the stream. Viewing may include permitted written activities, but it does not give ordinary presenter controls.
Open the audience route
Use the live-stream link in the Calendar event or trusted email. Google’s viewer guidance also allows opening a meeting link and choosing Watch the live stream under other joining options when offered. Confirm the event title and signed-in organizational identity. Internal viewing can require the organizer’s organization or an administrator-approved trusted domain, with meeting-specific conditions applying.
Check playback and available controls
Once the broadcast starts, adjust volume and enable captions as needed. Google also documents received video-quality controls, reactions, polls, Q&A, and chat when the host permits the relevant functions. Availability can vary with the viewing experience and platform. You cannot enable your camera or microphone while remaining a live-stream viewer, so plan a separate authorized role if a spoken contribution is required.
Handle waiting and later viewing correctly
If the page says it is waiting for the host, confirm the scheduled time and ask the organizer whether streaming has actually begun. Refreshing your page cannot start the broadcast. If sound is missing, check the viewer volume and device playback before asking the organizer to confirm source audio. Google says the live stream itself can be watched only while aired; ask whether an authorized recording will be available for later review. Do not assume that receiving a viewer link guarantees a permanent replay or grants access to the meeting’s participant room.
