Share a Google Meet Viewer Link Instead of a Participant Link

A Google Meet participant link and a live-stream viewer link serve different purposes. Giving the participant address to an audience can send people into the interactive meeting’s joining flow. Copy the actual streaming address when the intended role is to watch the broadcast, and test it using an appropriate viewer account.

Locate the streaming address

For a configured internal live stream, use the host’s Copy streaming link control in the streaming workflow. Google’s Calendar setup also provides a separate view-only event for audience invitations. Compare the address with the event’s audience instructions before distributing it. The main event is for guests who can be seen, heard, and present their screens.

Keep audience permission separate from the link

Google says adding someone to a view-only event does not itself grant access to the stream. The viewer still needs to meet the applicable organizational, trusted-domain, or supported meeting-access conditions. Send the link through the agreed audience channel with the correct event time and account expectations. Do not publish an internal broadcast link widely as a substitute for configuring access.

Verify the role at the destination

Ask a representative viewer to open the link and confirm they reach the live-stream experience. A viewer cannot enable a meeting camera or microphone, although permitted chat and other activities may be available. If a meeting link is used, Google’s viewer guidance offers Watch the live stream under other joining options when available; a dedicated audience link remains clearer. Recheck shared links after authorized streaming changes, because Google notes that adding or removing live streaming changes the meeting link. Keep presenters informed about which participant invitation remains authoritative.
