Enable Questions and Answers in an Eligible Google Meet Meeting

Google Meet Q&A provides a question list separate from the meeting chat. It requires a supported meeting edition and can be disabled by an administrator. Check whether questions are allowed before directing attendees to submit them during a presentation.

Confirm eligibility and the current setting

Compare the organizer’s edition with Google’s current Q&A availability list. Supported offerings include specified Business, Enterprise, Education, Essentials, Nonprofits, and Individual editions. Google says Q&A is normally on for eligible users except Education users, whose meeting hosts can enable it during the call. A general default does not override an administrator’s disabled feature or an unsupported meeting account.

Allow questions through Host controls

On a computer, open Host Controls at the bottom right, scroll to Meeting Activities, and turn on Allow questions in Q&A. On mobile, the host route begins with More controls and Host Controls. Review Allow anonymous questions separately; Google says anonymous questions are allowed by default. Explain whether the meeting permits anonymous posts before asking people to submit.

Decide how questions become visible

Question moderation is a separate setting and is off by default. If a computer-based host must approve each question before display, enable that option before collecting questions. In a live stream, Q&A is automatically available to meeting and stream participants, but hosts can disable it for stream viewers from a computer. Confirm the intended audience and have a participant locate Meeting tools and Q&A before the presentation begins. After the session, the moderator receives a question report, so do not imply that hiding or deleting a question from the live list necessarily removes it from the follow-up record.
