Saving a Google Meet poll lets a moderator prepare its question without immediately asking the room to vote. This is a draft inside the current meeting, rather than a poll library guaranteed to remain for a future session. Review the wording and anonymity choice before launch.
Create the poll on a computer
Join the eligible meeting as the responsible moderator. At the bottom right, open Meeting tools and Polls, then select Start a poll. Enter a clear question and the answer options. Use options that the audience can distinguish without needing a private explanation. If the question asks for a commitment, state exactly what choosing an option means.
Choose privacy and save the draft
Before saving or launching, turn on Responses appear without names if an anonymous poll is intended. Otherwise, the moderator’s report can include participant names and answers. Click Save rather than Launch to keep the poll prepared for later in this meeting. Inspect the Polls list to confirm the draft is present and has not been unintentionally released for voting.
Know what survives the call
Google says saved polls remain listed only for the meeting’s duration and all polls are permanently deleted after the call ends. Moderators receive a report for polls conducted in the session; an unlaunched draft is not a substitute for a permanent questionnaire. Keep approved question wording in an appropriate separate planning document if it is needed again. Before launching, review whether live-stream viewers are part of the audience because polls are automatically available to them in a stream. When ready, launch the reviewed question and confirm participants receive the poll, rather than assuming saving it made it visible to everyone.
