Share One Application Window in Google Meet

Google Meet can share one application window when a task does not fit inside a browser tab. This can suit a desktop editor or an approved demonstration program. A window share is narrower than an entire-screen share, but everything displayed inside that selected window still needs a privacy check.

Make the application window available

Open the application and the exact document or view you need. Bring the intended window out of its minimized state; Google says window selections are limited to open windows and recommends ensuring the desired window is not minimized. Inspect its visible content, including side panels, filenames, and any message previews embedded in the application.

Choose the window deliberately

In the meeting, select Present now, then A window. Match the picker preview and title to the prepared application before choosing Share. If a system-audio option appears, leave it off unless that sound is required. Google lists macOS 14.2, Windows 11, or newer for window and desktop audio sharing; availability should not be assumed on every computer.

Check what the audience receives

Ask a participant to confirm the correct application is visible, then perform one harmless action in the document to verify the presentation updates. Keep the selected window open while presenting. If you need another application’s content, change the shared source rather than assuming it will follow automatically. Do not choose the meeting window, which can produce a repeating mirror. When the demonstration ends, stop presenting in Meet and verify the active sharing indicator disappears. If the picker omits the application, restore its window and reopen the picker before escalating the issue or broadening the share.
