Timed tasks in Google Calendar can have visibility settings when the calendar is shared. Do not assume that all tasks are always private under the current product model. Google’s guidance distinguishes tasks with a start and end time from date-only tasks without that timed interval.
Review the calendar’s grants
On a computer, inspect who can view or manage the relevant calendar. Current permission levels differ in their ability to see private details. Broader public or organizational access also matters; one limited personal grant does not necessarily describe the complete audience.
Inspect the task’s visibility
Open the timed task, choose Edit task, and inspect Advanced settings and the visibility control offered. Review Free or Busy separately. Google’s visibility guidance says timed tasks are private by default, subject to stronger calendar permissions and an explicitly changed visibility setting.
A simple date-only task does not have the same sharing behavior as a task with both start and end time. Check the actual fields rather than generalizing from an older task or another platform’s interface.
Verify the intended viewer experience
Save and review a representative permitted viewer context where appropriate. Confirm which details, availability blocks, and sensitive descriptions are actually exposed. Avoid adding confidential client or personnel information until the audience is understood. Strong calendar managers and organizational policies can affect access, so a Private label should not be described as protection from every administrator. Keep attachment permissions separate from task visibility. A successful review identifies the timed task, its saved visibility, and the effective calendar grants rather than relying on a blanket statement that Calendar tasks can never be shared.
