Review Working Location Visibility Before Entering a Specific Address

Working-location information in Google Calendar has its own sharing behavior. Google’s guidance says people with Free or Busy access can receive your working location. Do not assume that a calendar hiding ordinary event details also hides a precise address entered as a working location.

Review the real audience

On a computer, inspect the calendar’s sharing grants and organizational context. Consider colleagues, delegates, groups, and wider grants. A familiar calendar color or a private ordinary event does not establish the audience of a working-location entry.

Choose an appropriate level of detail

Use Home, Office, or a suitable general location when that is enough for coordination. Google’s current location guidance offers specific buildings, cities, and street addresses through Other locations, subject to eligibility and organizational restrictions. Availability of that field is not a recommendation to expose a private address.

Review the purpose before adding a location. If collaborators only need to know whether a meeting should be remote, an exact residential address may provide no useful additional scheduling information.

Verify before saving recurring detail

Check the visible chip and relevant viewer context where appropriate. Confirm whether the location applies to one date, part of a day, or a repeating weekly pattern. A recurring precise address can reveal more than one isolated meeting location. Keep event visibility and working-location visibility as separate parts of the access review. If the actual audience cannot be established, avoid adding unnecessary detail until it is clear. A successful privacy review identifies who can see the location and why that precision is needed, rather than relying on an unrelated Private label elsewhere in the calendar.
