Review Recurring Events After a Google Calendar CSV Import

A Google Calendar CSV import may turn recurring events into separate one-time entries. Do not assume a series remains editable as a series just because several matching appointments appear on consecutive weeks. Review the actual recurrence structure before relying on the imported schedule.

Identify representative source series

Before importing, note a few recurring meetings and any exceptions, such as a moved occurrence or a skipped holiday. Keep the original calendar or export available for comparison. A repeated title alone is not evidence of a maintained recurrence rule.

Inspect the imported events

Open an imported occurrence and inspect whether it has a repeat setting. Google’s import guidance warns that CSV recurring events may appear as a series of one-time events. Check several later dates rather than examining only the first matching appointment.

Guests and conference information are not imported, so also avoid describing those copies as live invitations to the original participants. Importing is different from subscribing to a calendar that remains maintained by its owner.

Choose a deliberate correction

If the migration needs genuine recurring events, consider a suitable ICS export from the source or carefully recreate the required series after reviewing existing copies. Do not leave both the imported one-time entries and a new recurring series occupying the same schedule unintentionally. Verify the start, end condition, time zone, and exception dates of any replacement. Google’s recurrence guidance distinguishes a single occurrence from a series-wide change. Keep that scope clear during cleanup. The migration is complete only when the intended future meetings and their maintenance model are correct, not merely when the importer reports a successful row count.
