Receive Google Calendar Alerts Only After Responding Yes or Maybe

Google Calendar can limit event reminders to invitations you have answered Yes or Maybe. This can reduce alerts for meetings you have not chosen to attend. Review the actual invitation policy and your response before assuming a missing reminder means the browser is broken.

Open the personal notification option

On a computer, choose Settings > Settings > Notification settings. Inspect Notify me only if I have responded Yes or Maybe and enable it when that matches your preference.

Keep responses meaningful

Check important legitimate invitations and record the attendance response you actually intend. Do not accept an unfamiliar or unwanted invitation merely to make an alert appear. Google’s invitation guidance distinguishes an event visible on the grid from one you have accepted or marked tentative.

This setting concerns reminder behavior. It does not decide whether an event is added automatically, who can invite you, or which calendar details another person can read.

Verify the relevant event

Inspect a representative event’s saved RSVP and its own reminder settings. Check the browser or device notification path separately. If an event should still alert you but does not, investigate the different layers rather than toggling every setting at once. Your personal preference does not change other guests’ reminders or cancel a meeting. The completed configuration should leave a clear relationship between your genuine response and the tested reminder behavior, without implying that unread invitations, spam filtering, event acceptance, and notification delivery are all the same state. Preserve the response that reflects your actual attendance intention.
