Configure All-Day Event Notifications Separately in Google Calendar

All-day events in Google Calendar have a separate notification section from ordinary timed events. Review it when birthdays, travel days, or date-based reminders produce alerts at an unexpected time. An all-day display does not automatically mean the same reminder rule as a meeting at a particular hour.

Open the calendar’s settings

On a computer, choose Settings > Settings and select the intended calendar under Settings for my calendars. Find All-day event notifications and inspect the existing alert type and timing.

Set a useful reminder

Add or change the notification or email option that matches your needs, or remove an unnecessary one. Google’s notification guidance distinguishes this section from ordinary Event notifications. Review an individual event too if it has a customized reminder.

Keep availability separate from reminders. An all-day event may be marked Free or Busy according to its purpose, while notification timing is another personal preference.

Verify the actual date-based alert

Inspect a representative all-day event and confirm its date, reminder list, and delivery context. Check local time-zone behavior if you will travel before the reminder. Do not interpret the reminder hour as an authoritative deadline unless the event’s real source establishes that cutoff. Other Google Calendar users have their own notification preferences, so your saved setting is not proof of their alerts. The correct result is a deliberate reminder for the intended date-based event, with no assumption that all-day formatting, availability, and deadline meaning are interchangeable. Verify both notification type and intended delivery time.
