Make changes and manage sharing is a powerful Google Calendar permission. It gives a collaborator control over the relevant calendar content and the ability to share it with others. Grant it only when calendar administration is part of that person’s actual responsibility.
Identify the maintenance need
Confirm the calendar owner and the person who should manage access. Decide whether ordinary event editing or viewing would be enough. A request to correct one meeting should not automatically become permission to grant access to the whole calendar.
Set the role deliberately
On a computer, open Settings and sharing > Shared with. Add or locate the verified address and choose Make changes and manage sharing when justified. Review the complete saved role before sending or confirming the change.
Google’s current permission guidance includes events and tasks with start and end times within its scope. Do not rely on an outdated assumption that every task is always outside shared-calendar visibility.
Verify and document responsibility
Check that the intended person can perform the required management work and understands the calendar’s audience. Review existing public, organization, and individual sharing rules. Ownership transfer remains a separate operation, and permanent deletion or transfer has owner-specific limits. Keep a clear handover record when the permission supports a project administrator. The final grant should provide a named person with the necessary responsibility, without implying that everyone who can see the calendar should also be able to expand its audience or manage its content. Document the intended management responsibility.
