Removing conferencing from a Google Calendar event changes the invitation’s formal meeting details. It is useful when a meeting becomes in-person or moves to another approved provider. Review the entire event so an obsolete link does not remain in the location or description.
Remove the intended conference
Open the event on a computer and choose Edit. In its conferencing field, use Remove for the existing video conference, then save. Google’s conferencing guidance gives this route for an event you have permission to edit.
Check other references
Read the location, description, attachments, and participant instructions for a copied old link. Correct the relevant references deliberately. Do not assume removing one formal field edits every place where someone manually pasted the same URL.
If another conference provider will be used, select the appropriate supported option and verify its requirements. A new link is not automatically equivalent to the previous meeting’s audience and records.
Verify communication and access
Reopen the event and confirm the intended joining instructions. Review any guest-update choice so participants do not rely on an outdated email. Keep removal of a Calendar conference field separate from the lifecycle and access rules of a previously created meeting code. Google’s code guidance warns that codes remain linked to their originating event until expiry. Investigate the relevant meeting controls when access must be changed, rather than claiming the calendar edit alone revokes every old route or removes recordings already shared. Check the actual audience-facing invitation before declaring the change complete.
