Chat with Eligible Guests from a Google Calendar Event

Google Calendar can open a chat with eligible event guests on a work or school account. This is separate from emailing the complete invitation audience. Check who will actually be included before using the chat for a meeting update that every participant needs to receive.

Open the guest communication controls

On a computer, open the event and inspect the controls beside the guest count. Choose Chat with guests when the account and event support it. Google’s guidance limits the feature to work or school use and includes only Chat-enabled guests in the same organization.

Review the audience boundary

External guests are not added to the group chat. Google’s invitation help also describes a limit of 200 guests including the organizer for this event-chat workflow. A chat button should therefore not be interpreted as a channel reaching every address on a large or mixed guest list.

Check the actual conversation before sending sensitive material. Turning off See guest list after a conversation exists leaves it active but stops automatic guest-list synchronization, so review its membership separately. An existing event-related chat may have a different participant history from the people you are thinking about at that moment.

Verify important updates separately

If a schedule change must reach everyone, use the appropriate event-update or approved communication route and inspect the recipient scope. Do not assume an external participant has read an internal Chat message. Keep the event itself current so conversation text does not become a competing source of meeting details. The chat feature can simplify coordination, but it does not automatically establish delivery, attendance, or file access for the full invitation audience.
