An event color in Google Calendar can help you recognize a category or priority in your own schedule. It is a display cue, not a change to the event’s date, availability, or access rules. Do not assume every guest sees the same color you selected.
Choose the event color
On a computer, right-click the existing event and choose an available color, following Google’s creation guidance. Confirm the event’s identity first when several similar entries are close together. A calendar’s default color can also be changed separately through its own options.
Understand the audience scope
Google’s help says people do not see the event color you set unless you have given them permission to make changes on your calendar. Treat color as part of your display organization rather than a reliable instruction to all recipients.
If a classification matters to the audience, include appropriate wording in the title or description. A red event is not a dependable way to communicate cancellation, urgency, or a mandatory action by itself.
Verify consistency without changing meaning
Inspect the event in the working view and compare it with other entries using the same convention. Check readability against the chosen appearance theme. Do not confuse an event’s color with whether it is Free or Busy, and do not rely on it to protect confidential details. If another person’s color differs, investigate neither deletion nor sync failure solely on that basis. Display choices help personal organization, while event details and confirmed invitations remain the sources for the actual meeting arrangement.
