Record a Slides Presentation Through Google Vids When Available

Some eligible work or school accounts can record a Slides presentation through Google Vids. This is a separate documented workflow with recording and editing options in Vids. Inspect the interface actually available to the account rather than assuming it uses the older Slides Rec controls.

Start the Vids recording route

Open the presentation on a computer in Chrome or Edge. Use Record > Record video where the feature is available. Google’s guidance limits this workflow to certain work or school accounts, while viewing and sharing can use other Drive-supported browsers.

Choose capture and presentation

Select the offered capture mode, such as camera with screen, audio, or screen. Review the chosen camera and microphone when relevant. Click Next, choose the presentation you intend to show, and use the share control for that capture.

Verify that the selected presentation is the approved version and that no unrelated window or private material is included in the intended recording surface.

Review and edit the artifact

Use the available edit route to open the recording in Google Vids. Google’s guidance mentions additional editing options, including transcript trim. Inspect the actual video before sharing it, checking sound, slide order, and any corrected section. Choose audience access deliberately through the available share controls. Do not assume that limits or menu labels from a different Slides recording workflow apply unchanged to Vids. A completed capture still requires a separate accuracy and privacy review of the saved audience artifact. Check the ending of the edited video before copying its audience link.
