Set Live Google Slides Auto-Advance for a Timed Talk

Live auto-advance in Google Slides moves through a presentation at a selected interval while you present. It can suit a timed display or a rehearsal, but it is separate from the publishing settings used for a web link or website embed. Choose the workflow that matches the actual delivery route.

Set the live interval

Open the deck on a computer and click Slideshow. In the bottom presentation controls, open Options > Auto advance options and choose the timing. Google’s guidance says to reset these options each time you present the presentation.

Test the content against the interval

Watch several slides without manually advancing. Check whether long text, media, and animations have enough time to communicate their point. A single interval may suit a simple display but be inappropriate for a detailed training explanation.

Do not assume a live auto-advance choice changes a previously published link. Published presentations have their own timing controls and need a separate verification of the actual shared URL.

Rehearse the complete sequence

Run the full intended loop or talk section and check its opening and ending behavior. Confirm the timing again after reopening or starting another presentation session. Keep a way to interrupt the sequence when a viewer asks a question or a media item requires attention. The interval controls movement through the deck; it does not prove that an audience has had sufficient reading time or that every embedded source remains accessible. Adjust the content or delivery method when one repeated interval cannot serve the presentation clearly.
