Choose On Click for a Google Slides Animation

An on-click Google Slides animation lets the presenter decide when an object appears. This suits a question followed by an answer or a process explained one stage at a time. The timing still needs rehearsal so an extra click does not reveal information earlier or later than intended.

Open the object’s animation

On a computer, select the object and open the animation or Motion panel. Add an effect if the object does not already have one. Check the selected item in the panel against the visible object on the canvas.

Choose the click trigger

In the animation’s start control, choose On click. Google’s help defines this as starting when you click the mouse or press the space bar. This timing is distinct from starting after another effect or running alongside it.

Set an appropriate speed and review the surrounding effects. A click-driven reveal can still become confusing if several objects have been added without a clear sequence.

Rehearse the presenter action

Use the panel’s Play preview, then run the slideshow from the preceding slide. Count the actions required before the audience sees the whole explanation. Test the remote clicker when one will be used. Check that the slide remains understandable if you pause before a reveal. Avoid putting essential safety qualifications behind an optional click while displaying an unqualified claim first. The animation should pace a complete explanation, and the distributed static version should also be reviewed for the information it actually shows. Check the final reveal as carefully as the first.
