Insert a Google Drive Video into Google Slides

A video stored in Google Drive can be added to a Google Slides presentation from the desktop video dialog. This suits an approved internal demonstration or a prepared clip. Inserting the frame does not by itself establish that every presenter or viewer has permission to play the underlying file.

Select the Drive video

Open the destination slide on a computer and choose Insert > Video. Select the Google Drive source, identify the intended video, and complete the insertion. Check the actual contents and version rather than relying only on the filename.

For a video produced in Google Vids, Google’s guidance describes exporting it to Drive first and then inserting that exported video into Slides.

Review the player and access

Place the video frame appropriately and inspect its Video playback options. Choose how the clip should begin during the talk. Review any access-checker suggestions when sharing the presentation, and confirm only the permissions that match your intended audience.

Verify with the intended presenter

Test playback through an account that represents the person who will actually deliver the presentation. Check sound, visible content, and whether the source file opens without an unexpected request for access. Organization policy can restrict sharing, so use the appropriate owner or administrator when a permission change is needed. Do not broaden access to a confidential clip merely to remove an error. A successful test from the creator’s account is useful but does not prove that another presenter or external viewer can play the same media.
