If a saved password exists but autofill does not appear, check the device’s chosen password provider as well as the saved entry. The account signed in to Gmail does not necessarily determine which password manager supplies suggestions in another app or browser.
Confirm the website and saved username
Open Google Password Manager directly and look for the exact service and username. Confirm the Google Account or local Chrome profile holding the entry. A similar website name, alternate sign-in domain, or different username can explain an absent or unexpected suggestion.
Some sites use a passkey or Sign in with Google rather than an ordinary password field. Do not assume that every sign-in route should show the same stored-password suggestion.
Review the device integration
On an iPhone, Google’s current default-password-manager guide uses Settings, Apps, Default Apps, and Passwords & Codes, where the relevant Chrome and Google providers can be enabled. Available labels can vary by operating-system version.
On Android or desktop Chrome, inspect the applicable password-manager and autofill settings for that platform. If another manager is intentionally selected, decide which approved provider should handle the credential rather than enabling every available service.
Test without exposing the credential
Return to the verified website or app and select the intended account if a suggestion appears. Complete any legitimate device authentication. Automatic sign-in and offering to save passwords are related settings, but they are not the same as choosing the correct provider.
If the entry is present but the field remains unsupported, use the service’s legitimate sign-in process and seek platform-specific support. Do not paste the password into a diagnostic page, disable account protections, or delete all manager data to force an autofill prompt. Record the provider, account, device, and affected app without including the password itself.
