Signing out of Gmail is not a sufficient check that offline copies have been removed from a shared computer. Plan the cleanup around unsent work, the account’s offline settings, and the browser profile that stored the mail.
Preserve and settle local work first
Check the original account’s Drafts and Outbox. Reconnecting can automatically send queued messages, so review that queue before restoring a connection. Verify that work you need to keep has synchronized or has an approved secure copy.
Do not erase data while another person is using the same browser profile. Site-data removal can affect Google sessions and other locally stored content beyond the one visible Gmail tab.
Disable offline use and remove its local store
While online, open Gmail’s Settings, See all settings, and Offline, then turn off Enable offline mail and save. Review the security option concerning data kept after sign-out, if available. Turning off future offline use and removing already stored data are separate things to verify.
Follow Google’s current offline-uninstall guidance and Chrome’s site-data controls for the profile involved. Prefer a deliberate review of the affected Google or Gmail site data over clearing every website’s data without inspection. Understand that a removal can sign you out and delete local, unsynchronized material.
Confirm the shared computer no longer provides access
Close Gmail, sign out of the account, and check that reopening it does not expose the offline mailbox. Review separately downloaded attachments, Photos or Files destinations, and any exported copies; browser cleanup does not remove those files.
On a managed or public computer, ask the administrator to confirm the approved cleanup process. If you cannot verify removal, treat that as an unresolved exposure rather than claiming the computer is clean. For future use, avoid enabling offline Gmail in a shared profile and do not save the account’s sign-in credentials there.
