All inboxes in the Gmail iPhone app combines the inbox views of accounts added to the app. It does not merge those accounts or move their messages into one Google mailbox.
Switch to the intended account
Tap the profile picture at the top right and choose the full email address you want to use. Then open the menu and choose that account’s Inbox or the relevant inbox category. Check the address again before composing or replying.
To return to the combined view, open the menu and choose All inboxes. Google’s instructions describe this as a way to view multiple accounts in one place, including supported non-Gmail accounts added to the app.
Check a message’s actual mailbox
When a message appears unexpectedly, inspect the recipient information and the account currently selected. Two accounts can receive similar newsletters or copies of the same conversation. That is different from one message being duplicated inside a single mailbox.
Search within the intended account if you need to establish where a particular message is stored. All inboxes is an inbox view, not a guarantee that archived mail, Spam, Trash, or every custom folder from every provider is displayed together.
Change the view without removing access
There is no need to remove an account merely to read another account’s inbox. Account removal signs the account out on the device and, for Google Accounts, can affect other Google apps too. Keep that broader action for situations where you actually want to end access.
If you repeatedly reply from an unintended address, pause before Send and inspect the From field in each draft. Changing the visible inbox does not replace that final check. If an account’s own inbox does not update, investigate that account’s connection or sync separately; a combined inbox display does not establish that every provider is delivering normally.
