Gmail sends forwarding confirmation to the destination account, not only to the source Inbox. If the confirmation is missing, verify the destination and its delivery conditions before requesting another copy. Do not approve an unexpected forwarding request simply because it looks like a Google message.
Confirm the address and mailbox
- In the source Gmail settings, inspect the forwarding address you entered.
- Compare it with the intended destination’s full address.
- Open that destination account directly.
- Search its Inbox, Spam, categories, and other relevant locations.
A combined mobile inbox can obscure which account owns a message. Check the individual destination mailbox, including the correct provider’s webmail if it is not Gmail.
Check delivery and authorization
A full destination account, a filter, a blocked sender, or an organizational review process can affect the confirmation. Ask the destination’s administrator when its policy requires that route.
If the address was mistyped, correct the setup rather than trying to access someone else’s mailbox. Verification exists to establish that the destination is approved; it should not be bypassed by sharing passwords or asking a stranger to forward a live confirmation link.
Finish activation after confirmation
Once the expected confirmation is available, follow its legitimate verification process. Return to the source account’s forwarding settings and explicitly enable the verified destination, choose the source-copy behavior, and save changes.
Use one harmless new incoming message to test. A confirmation link being accepted does not by itself prove that forwarding was activated or that the destination will accept every later message.
Do not assume a universal link-expiration period or keep requesting confirmations rapidly. Follow the current interface’s instructions and preserve the intended address and request time for support.
If you did not initiate the request, do not confirm it. Inspect your own account security through a trusted route as appropriate. For a legitimate organizational workflow, coordinate with the mailbox owner or administrator and keep forwarding limited to approved destinations.
