Gmail’s Schedule send lets you prepare an email now and choose a later sending time. Verify the recipient, content, and chosen time before scheduling. A scheduled message is not a guarantee that it will reach the recipient’s inbox at that exact minute.
Choose a later time on the computer
- Open the intended Gmail account and compose the message.
- Check every recipient and wait for any attachment upload to finish.
- Open the arrow beside Send and choose Schedule send.
- Select the offered time or enter the required date and time.
- Confirm the choice, then inspect the message in Scheduled.
Use the scheduled copy as the record of what is queued. Simply leaving a draft open does not schedule it. Google currently allows up to 100 scheduled emails, so check existing items if you are planning a large set.
Use the app’s own scheduling route
In Gmail for Android or iPhone and iPad, prepare the message and open its More menu to choose Schedule send. The app does not use the computer’s arrow-beside-Send layout. Read the selected date and time before confirming.
Google says scheduled mail uses the time zone in which you schedule it. If the recipient is elsewhere, convert the intended recipient-local time before choosing the schedule. Do not assume Gmail automatically interprets your recipient’s working hours.
Confirm the result and allow normal timing variation
Google warns that a scheduled message may send a few minutes after its selected time. For a strict legal or operational deadline, plan an appropriate margin and use the required delivery or submission process rather than treating an email timer as proof of receipt.
Before the due time, you can cancel the scheduled send and edit the resulting draft. After the scheduled message has been sent, the scheduling control is no longer an unsend mechanism. Check Sent and the actual message status before creating another copy, so that an uncertain status does not lead to duplicate mail.
