Gmail Signature Looks Different on Mobile: Understand the Separate Settings

2026年10月28日 by wisechecker

A signature sent from the Gmail app can differ from one sent through computer Gmail because the app has its own signature setting. Check the account and application that actually sent the message before rebuilding the web signature.

Check Android’s mobile signature

In the Android Gmail app, open the menu, go to Settings, and select the relevant Google Account. Open Mobile signature, edit the text, and confirm with OK.

This setting applies to mail sent from that app. It is not a universal setting for every email program installed on the phone. If the message was sent through another manufacturer’s mail app, consult that application’s signature controls instead.

Check iPhone or iPad separately

In the Gmail app for iPhone or iPad, open the menu and Settings. Under Compose and Reply, open Signature settings, enable Mobile Signature when you want to use it, and edit the wording. Google documents saving by returning with Back.

Where several accounts are present, review the setting for each one. A correct footer in your personal account does not establish the configuration of a work account on the same device.

Understand fallback and formatting limits

Google says that if you have not created a signature in the Gmail app, new messages use the signature created on the computer. That guidance does not promise identical formatting in every application or every reply situation.

Compare fresh test messages from the computer and the affected app. Include essential contact details as readable text rather than relying entirely on an image. If the phone is using a mobile signature, update its wording directly instead of expecting every edit to the computer’s saved signature to replace it.

When a received email looks different, inspect both the sending interface and the receiving application. A line wrapping on a narrow screen is not necessarily missing content. Check the actual address, wording, and link behavior before making further changes; avoid deleting account data or resetting the phone to resolve a signature-only difference.
