Before forwarding a Gmail conversation, decide whether the recipient needs one message or the whole exchange. Review the outgoing text and attachments rather than assuming everything visible in the conversation is automatically included in the form you intended.
Forward one selected message
On a computer, open the conversation and expand the message you want. Use that message’s More → Forward action, or the available Forward control for the intended message. Enter the new recipient and inspect the forwarded content.
Original file attachments are normally included in a forward, but check the actual outgoing draft. A Drive link, a remotely displayed image, and a file attachment are not the same thing. Forwarding a link does not necessarily grant the new recipient permission to its target.
Forward the conversation when that is appropriate
Gmail’s computer interface offers More → Forward all for the conversation. Review the included history carefully before sending, particularly if different people joined the exchange at different times.
Do not use Forward all just because a wanted file is difficult to locate. It can disclose earlier messages that the new recipient does not need. A concise new message with the permitted file may be more appropriate.
Use an email attachment when you need that format
For a message preserved as an email file, select the relevant messages in the mailbox and choose More → Forward as attachment. Gmail attaches them as EML files. A recipient needs a compatible way to read that format.
This differs from an ordinary forwarded message and from attaching only the original PDF or image. Check what the recipient needs. File size and the account’s attachment rules still matter; a large outgoing item may become a Drive link instead.
Perform the final disclosure check
Confirm the new addresses, every included message, attachment names, and any link permissions. Remove material you are not authorized to share. If a message’s security controls prevent forwarding, follow the sender’s or organization’s approved sharing route rather than bypassing them. After sending, inspect the Sent message to confirm what actually left your account.
