Notion AI is now included in the standard Business and Enterprise plans. Free and Plus workspaces receive limited complimentary AI responses. An old price quoted as “$10 per member per month for the AI add-on” is not a reliable description of a new purchase today.
Official documentation checked October 14, 2026. Prices, taxes, billing intervals and existing contracts vary. The offer and renewal terms displayed for your workspace govern the actual purchase.
Separate the Workspace Plan From AI Usage Charges
There are two questions to answer: which workspace plan includes the feature, and whether the particular action spends additional credits. “AI included” does not mean every model and every background automation has unlimited use. Start with Notion’s current plan comparison and the workspace’s own billing screen.
For an existing paid workspace, inspect its invoice before replacing an old arrangement. Do not cancel or downgrade solely because an old tutorial uses different terminology. A changed plan can affect features beyond AI.
What Each Plan Means for AI Access
- Free and Plus: limited trial responses let you evaluate AI. They are not a recurring allowance that promises unrestricted ongoing access.
- Business: Notion AI is part of the plan, with usage allowances and separate credit-based features.
- Enterprise: AI is included, while the organization’s contract, administration and credit arrangements need to be checked with its owner.
This entitlement summary follows Notion’s current AI FAQ. To estimate your own total, record the selected plan’s per-seat rate, the number of billable members, the billing interval and any credit purchase separately. An annual per-month equivalent is not necessarily the amount collected each month.
Understand Allowances and Notion Credits
Notion documents six-hour and monthly usage windows for some AI features. Check Settings → Notion AI → Usage for the account’s actual status and refresh information. An administrator may permit additional credit use after the allowance; do not assume this is automatically enabled. See the allowance guide.
Premium models have their own credit cost and admin controls. Owners and admins can set member spending limits in the Usage area. Read the premium-model controls before enabling them for a team.
Autofill also has different routes: Basic Autofill is included on Business and Enterprise, while Custom Agent Autofill spends credits. The Notion credits documentation distinguishes these. A successful small trial does not establish the monthly cost of running an automated process over thousands of rows.
Check the Bill Before Upgrading or Buying Credits
- Identify the workspace and the owner responsible for billing. Do not confuse your personal workspace with your employer’s.
- Review the current plan and invoice. Separate existing subscription charges from credit purchases.
- Compare the actual upgrade offer with your member list. Check whether an invited person is a member or a guest rather than counting every invited email address as a paid seat.
- Review the billing interval, amount due now, renewal date and any proration shown in the confirmation. Do not infer refunds from a generic article.
- For credits, review Settings → Access & billing → Notion credits with an authorized admin. Decide who may spend credits and what budget is appropriate before enabling extra usage.
Use a few representative tasks to estimate demand. Record successful runs and reruns separately: retries and experimentation can also consume usage. A trial’s cost is evidence for that workload, not a promise of the same cost for every document.
Common Billing Misunderstandings
Guests are not automatically billable members. Notion’s plan comparison distinguishes external guests from paid seats. An invitation that adds someone as a member can affect billing, so review the role actually assigned.
There is no universal AI toggle with a fixed add-on price. Use the current workspace offer. A model enablement switch is not the same as purchasing the main plan.
Included AI is not an unlimited-credit promise. Reaching an allowance or spending limit is not a reason to reinstall the app. Check which limit was reached.
Turning off a model does not necessarily cancel a subscription or credit commitment. Read the confirmation and contract for the product you intend to change. This article does not promise a refund or an immediate end to charges.
Choose the Smallest Arrangement That Meets Your Need
If you are evaluating AI, start with the available trial and a few non-sensitive examples. If the team needs ongoing workspace AI, compare the current Business offer with your existing plan. If the need is scheduled automation or premium models, estimate those credit-based tasks separately.
For a useful budget note, write down four items: workspace subscription, billable member count, expected credit spending, and renewal terms. That is more reliable than multiplying an old AI add-on price by every person who has ever been invited to a page.
