Google offers phone-number-based account creation in eligible countries. Such an account can have a generated username ending in @id.gle. Despite its email-like appearance, that username is not an email address and does not provide a Gmail mailbox.
Understand the identity you created
Check the account menu and Google Account settings to identify the username and associated phone number. Do not publish an @id.gle username as an address where customers or contacts should send mail.
A Google Account can give access to Google services without having Gmail. If you need email, investigate the supported options for adding an email address or Gmail to the existing account rather than assuming that the generated username already receives messages.
Where official notices appear
Google describes a Message Center for accounts that do not have a verified email address associated with them. It is a place for official Google account communications, not a general-purpose inbox for sending and receiving email.
Open Google Account settings directly and select Message Center if it is available for your account. Review notices there rather than relying only on a text alert. A notification tells you to inspect the account; it is not a reason to give a code to someone who contacts you.
If you later add an email address
Google says future official communications can be sent to the added email address, while existing Message Center messages remain available. Check the email settings and verify the address you add.
Do not confuse this with mail forwarding. Messages previously displayed in Message Center do not establish that the @id.gle username is a working external email address.
Keep a usable recovery path
Before changing or giving up the associated phone number, inspect the account’s sign-in and recovery settings. Establish another supported method while you can still sign in, and verify that it works. Do not assume a mobile carrier will preserve access to a number after a contract ends.
If the phone-only creation option is not shown in your country or account flow, use another supported creation option. Its absence is not something to bypass with a false location or an untrusted temporary-number service.
