The Slides recording workflow can save a narrated presentation to Drive on eligible work or school accounts. Use Chrome or Edge to create the recording and confirm edit access to the deck. Make a short test before relying on the feature for a complete presentation.
Open the recording studio
In the eligible desktop presentation, choose Rec > Record new video. Review the camera and microphone configuration and the visible presentation. Check the background if the camera will be included. Google’s help notes a 30-minute limit for each Slides recording.
Record the intended take
Click the red record button when ready. Present the slides at a natural pace and inspect any important media or on-screen explanation. Avoid including unrelated notifications or private material in the recording context.
When finished, pause and choose Save to Drive. If the take is unsuitable, use the re-record option before saving rather than treating an incomplete version as final.
Verify the saved artifact
Open the saved recording and check its beginning, ending, sound, and slide sequence. Google’s guidance says recordings are stored in a My Drive folder named Slides recordings. Confirm the actual file before sharing it. Review viewer permissions separately from the presentation’s sharing settings. A completed save action is not proof of a complete or accurate recording, and a deck edit made afterward should not be assumed to update the recorded video. Treat the saved media as a separate audience artifact requiring its own content and access review. Check the saved file title.
