Propose a new time in Google Calendar lets a guest suggest an alternative without directly changing the organizer’s meeting. Use it when a scheduling conflict needs a clear proposal. Sending a suggestion is not confirmation that the event has moved.
Check the available proposal option
On a computer, open the event. Beside Maybe, open the dropdown and choose Propose a new time when available. Google’s guidance says proposals are unavailable for all-day events and events with more than 200 guests.
Send a practical alternative
Choose the proposed date and time and add a useful message if needed. Check time zones and the length of the meeting before selecting Send proposal. A specific alternative is easier to review than a vague note saying that the scheduled time is inconvenient.
Do not change another event in your calendar and assume that creates a proposal. Use the event’s actual proposal workflow so the organizer can review the intended suggestion.
Verify the organizer’s decision
Check the event later for an accepted schedule change or an appropriate response from the organizer. The organizer’s review controls are separate from the guest’s submission. Until the event is changed, continue treating the original details as the recorded schedule rather than telling others that your proposed time is confirmed. Review any new room acceptance or conferencing information after a change. A proposal supports negotiation; it does not independently establish attendance, room availability, or agreement by every participant. Check the proposed end time as well as its start.
