Choose Screen, Camera, or Audio Capture for a Slides-to-Vids Recording

The Slides-to-Vids recording workflow offers different capture choices for a presentation. Choose based on what the audience needs to receive: a presenter with slides, spoken audio, or the screen presentation. The mode names should not be treated as interchangeable versions of the same recording.

Open the available capture options

On an eligible work or school account in Chrome or Edge, use the Slides Record > Record video route. Google’s Vids recording guidance lists Camera & Screen, Audio, and Screen choices.

Match the mode to the purpose

Choose Camera & Screen for a picture-in-picture presenter and slides. Choose Audio for a voice-only recording route, or Screen for a slideshow-only capture. Inspect the preview and connected-device menus rather than assuming the camera and microphone selected by another application are also in use here.

When ready, continue with Next, choose the presentation, and confirm the intended capture. Review any permission prompt for the specific input you plan to use.

Verify the saved content

Open the resulting recording in Vids and confirm that it includes exactly the intended picture and sound. Check the beginning and ending for unintended material, and test any edits before sharing. Google’s guidance says camera and microphone access are not required merely to begin recording, so do not demand unnecessary input access for a screen-only plan. Share the checked artifact with the appropriate audience and keep the mode choice documented when another editor will continue the recording workflow. Make a brief sample to confirm the selected mode before capturing the entire presentation.
