Change a Slide Theme or Layout in Google Slides on Android

Google Slides on Android offers separate controls for a presentation theme and a slide layout. A theme supplies coordinated design choices, while a layout arranges the content areas. Choose the control that matches the task instead of changing the whole design to repair one slide.

Change the theme

Open the presentation in the Android Slides app and double-tap the slide you want to work with. At the top right, open More > Change theme and select the desired theme. Review several slide types afterward because the design affects more than one isolated text box.

Change a slide layout

For another arrangement, double-tap the relevant slide, open More > Change layout, and choose the offered layout. Inspect the title, body, and images after applying it. Manually inserted objects may require individual attention even when the layout choice succeeds.

Google’s Android help directs background changes to a computer. Do not copy the iPhone or desktop background menu into this Android instruction as though all platforms have the same controls.

Verify readability

Present the changed slides on the device and inspect contrast, text fitting, and the relationship between images and labels. A theme preview is not enough to establish that a dense content slide remains readable. If the material still does not fit, shorten it or divide it across slides instead of selecting increasingly small typography. Review any later export separately so the audience receives the intended design and complete information in that specific artifact. Check closing and section-divider slides too.
