A Google family calendar can use event reminders without automatically notifying you whenever a family member creates, edits, or deletes an entry. Google’s current family-calendar guidance distinguishes those behaviors. Review your actual preferences before assuming every shared-schedule change will produce an email or alert.
Open the family calendar settings
On a computer, find the Family calendar under My calendars and open its settings. Confirm the correct account and calendar rather than another similarly named shared schedule. Review the existing Event notifications.
Choose useful reminders
Add or remove the desired upcoming-event notification through the available controls. Google’s family guidance says upcoming reminders normally follow the primary calendar’s behavior, while creation, editing, and deletion messages are not received by default.
Inspect Other notifications where relevant and available, using the general Calendar notification guidance. Keep those categories separate from the reminder that occurs before a particular appointment.
Verify the shared workflow
Check a representative family event and your personal reminder route. Another member’s access to the shared calendar does not establish identical notifications on their account or device. Agree on an appropriate communication process for important schedule changes rather than assuming an automatic alert proves everyone knows. Review guest and sharing permissions before adding private material to a family calendar, whose members can have broad management capabilities. The completed review should establish your tested reminder settings and the team’s actual coordination expectations, not a universal guarantee of notifications for every shared-calendar action. Confirm which family calendar and account were tested.
