Google Calendar email notifications for event changes are separate from reminders before an appointment. Use the calendar’s Other notifications section to choose which categories should generate email. This helps distinguish schedule maintenance messages from the alerts you need shortly before a meeting.
Select the relevant calendar
On a computer, open Settings > Settings. Under Settings for my calendars, choose the intended calendar and open Other notifications. Review its name and ownership context before changing a notification policy.
Choose the categories
Inspect the offered categories, such as new events, changed events, cancellations, or event responses. Google’s guidance describes selecting Email or None beside the relevant category. Choose deliberately rather than disabling everything solely to reduce inbox volume.
Per-event guest response emails have their own control and specific third-party RSVP consequences. Keep that setting separate from these broader calendar preferences.
Verify the expected messages
Review a harmless representative event change when appropriate and check the relevant inbox. If a message is absent, inspect mail rules and account context without assuming the Calendar save failed. Avoid deleting or broadly archiving invitation messages needed by an external calendar service to maintain event state. These choices govern notification channels, not the actual existence or correctness of the event. Keep the calendar record current and use an appropriate coordination route for critical changes rather than treating one email preference as proof that every participant has been informed. Review the delivery route used by each external service before changing the emails on which its synchronization depends.
