Hiding a calendar on the Google Calendar grid can reduce visual clutter without deleting its events. Use it for a schedule you only need occasionally. This is a personal viewing choice, not a change to the owner’s data or the permissions of other people using the calendar.
Toggle the displayed calendar
On a computer, find the calendar under My calendars or Other calendars. Click its name or checkbox to hide or show its events in the grid. Google’s calendar-removal guidance distinguishes this temporary hiding from unsubscribing and permanent deletion.
Keep removal actions separate
Hiding events in the grid leaves the calendar available in the list. Hide from list is another display operation, while Unsubscribe removes a non-owner’s subscription. Deleting an owned secondary calendar has a broader effect on everyone using it.
Choose the smallest operation that matches the task. Do not delete or unsubscribe merely because the screen contains too many overlapping schedules.
Verify before interpreting availability
Inspect the grid after toggling the calendar, then show it again when you need its events. An apparently empty period is not proof of free time if relevant calendars are hidden. Check calendar selection before printing or reviewing a schedule for another person. Hiding on your screen does not make confidential event details inaccessible to people who already have permission. Keep personal display organization separate from actual sharing and event maintenance, and confirm which calendars were visible before making a claim that the schedule has no conflicts. Review every visible source calendar.
