Google Sheets Filter Is Missing New Rows: Check the Filter Range

A filter can operate correctly while omitting new records that sit outside its range. Check the range boundary before changing conditions or re-entering the missing rows.

Compare the source with the filtered area

Find the last row and rightmost column that belong to the dataset. Look for blank separator rows or a second block that was appended below the original selection. Confirm the new records really exist in the same sheet.

Record the existing conditions. A condition that intentionally excludes a status is different from a row that never entered the filter range, and both problems can occur at once.

Apply filtering to the complete dataset

Select the correct full record range, including the header, and adjust or recreate the filter as appropriate. When recreation is necessary, restore only the conditions that still represent the intended population.

Keep unrelated notes and totals outside that range. Do not extend a filter through several independent tables just to capture one missing row; that can introduce misleading headers and sort unrelated material together.

Plan for future additions

Test a newly added record that should pass the filter and another that should fail it. Check row counts and associated fields. For structured, growing data, consider a Sheets table and review its actual table range and views.

A table still needs a consistent schema and a checked insertion workflow. Do not assume every paste far below an existing table becomes part of it. Document where new records should be entered, and verify charts or formulas separately: repairing a filter’s range does not automatically prove that every other consumer includes the same new data.
