If a website accepts your new password but Google Password Manager keeps offering the old one, update the saved entry. Changing the real account password again is not necessarily required. The stored credential and the website’s current credential are separate pieces of state.
Confirm which password is actually current
Use the service’s legitimate sign-in route and the correct username. If you already have a verified working credential, preserve it securely while inspecting the manager. Do not keep testing guessed variants merely to determine which saved entry looks plausible.
Check whether several accounts or sign-in domains exist for that service. A password that is old for one username may still be the intended credential for a different account.
Edit the specific saved record
On desktop Chrome, open Google Password Manager, select the relevant password entry, choose Edit, and save the verified current value. Confirm the Google Account or local profile holding that record before changing it.
If Chrome offers to update a password after a successful change, inspect the associated username. Accepting an update for the wrong saved account can create a second problem. Do not delete every entry for the website as a shortcut.
Verify autofill and security separately
Return to the verified site and check that the intended provider offers the corrected username. Complete any normal device authentication without exposing the password in screenshots or logs.
Editing Password Manager does not reset the actual website account, revoke active sessions, or resolve a suspected compromise. If the credential was exposed, follow the service’s security process and use Password Checkup as appropriate. If the issue was simply an outdated stored value, keep the repair limited to that entry and verify other devices using the same storage account after synchronization.
