Gmail Third-Party Send-As Is Ending: Choose a Supported Sending Method

2026年10月29日 by wisechecker

Google’s current Send as notice schedules the end of Gmail support for third-party sending addresses starting January 2027. This does not mean the other provider’s mailbox is closing. Plan a supported way to send from that provider without confusing it with a Google-hosted alias.

Identify whether the address is affected

Inspect Gmail’s Send mail as entries and determine who hosts each address. Google names non-Google addresses such as Yahoo and Outlook as affected, while excluding other Gmail addresses you own and Google Workspace aliases.

A custom company domain can be hosted by different providers. Ask the administrator instead of deciding solely from the part after the @ sign.

Choose the provider’s supported sending route

  1. Test the provider’s official webmail or supported app.
  2. Consider adding the account directly to the Gmail mobile app if its supported connection meets your needs.
  3. For managed mail, have the administrator approve the replacement client or service.
  4. Inspect From and Reply-to on a harmless test received by a trusted person.

Receiving forwarded mail in your main Gmail Inbox does not automatically authorize sending back from the other provider’s address. Incoming routing and outgoing identity require separate configuration.

Update defaults without losing access

Review templates, automatic responses, signatures, and workflows that depend on the retiring address. Change them only after the replacement is tested. Keep the source mailbox available for replies to earlier correspondence.

As of October 29, 2026, this is a scheduled support change. Do not claim a universal exact cutover hour or promise that re-verifying the same third-party SMTP setup will preserve it indefinitely.

Avoid unknown relays, password-sharing services, or weaker security as workarounds. Preserve required historical messages before removing any old connection. Removing a Send as entry is not the same as deleting its existing mail, cancelling the source provider, or stopping forwarding. Document which specific function each change replaces so users do not accidentally lose receiving while repairing sending.
