How to Send From Another Google-Hosted Address in Gmail

2026年10月29日 by wisechecker

Gmail can send from another address you own or are authorized to use, including supported Gmail addresses and Google Workspace aliases. Confirm the address’s hosting and ownership first. Google’s planned third-party Send as change does not apply identically to Google-hosted addresses.

Confirm which kind of address you have

A second Gmail account is a separate identity with its own access. A Workspace alias routes to an existing user’s primary account and is not another login. A custom domain can be hosted by Google or another provider, so its spelling alone does not determine the supported setup.

Ask the Workspace administrator to confirm an alias assignment rather than trying to create it as an unrelated personal account.

Add and verify the authorized address

  1. In Gmail on a computer, open Settings and See all settings.
  2. Open Accounts and import or Accounts.
  3. Under Send mail as, choose Add another email address.
  4. Enter the authorized name and address, then follow the verification process for that account type.

Use the current Google-hosted or administrator-approved authentication route. Do not enter another person’s password or weaken a group’s posting permissions merely to receive a verification message.

Test From and reply handling separately

In a new composition, inspect the From line and choose the intended verified address. Send a harmless test to a trusted recipient and check what they actually see. Then test where their reply goes.

The default From address and Reply-to address are separate settings. A successful send does not guarantee that every client hides the underlying account or displays the alias identically.

As of this review, Google says third-party Send as support is scheduled to end starting January 2027 while other Gmail addresses and Workspace aliases are excluded from that change. Recheck the official notice before relying on a future workflow.

Do not use another address to evade sending limits or impersonate an organization. Keep authorization, authentication, displayed identity, and reply routing clear before making the address a default.
