Gmail Sending Limits for Personal and Workspace Accounts: What Counts

2026年10月29日 by wisechecker

Gmail sending limits count more than one thing. Personal Gmail and Google Workspace also use different allowances. Read the current table for your account and sending route before planning a campaign or diagnosing a rejection.

Separate daily messages from recipients

Google’s personal Gmail help describes errors after more than 500 emails in a day or more than 500 recipients in one message. Those are separate conditions.

The current Workspace table lists up to 2,000 messages per day for ordinary paid accounts, 500 for trial accounts, and a separate 1,500 mail-merge limit. These figures are conditional, can change, and are not an entitlement to send unsolicited mail.

Check the route-specific recipient limits

For Workspace, the documented web-message recipient ceiling differs from SMTP client and API limits. The table currently lists 2,000 total recipients per ordinary message with at most 500 external recipients, compared with 100 for SMTP client submissions and 500 for Gmail API submissions.

To, Cc, and Bcc all matter. Total daily recipients and unique daily recipients are different measures: sending five messages to the same ten people counts differently for those two categories. SMTP relay and Google Groups have their own rules.

Account for shared activity and timing

Workspace daily limits apply over a rolling 24-hour period. Google lists sends from aliases, delegated users, and the vacation responder as activity that can count toward the user’s limits. Another address in From is not necessarily a fresh independent quota.

Trial-to-paid increases can have additional conditions and processing time. Do not buy or upgrade a plan solely on the assumption that a blocked send will become available immediately.

Record the relevant account, route, limit type, and date of the official table when documenting a workflow. This article is a counting guide, not a complete replacement for every current limit row. For legitimate high-volume work, involve the administrator and choose an approved sending system rather than splitting or rotating submissions to defeat restrictions.
