A move can leave several different addresses in Google: home or work locations, saved purchase addresses, a payments profile’s legal address, and a card’s billing address. Correct the field used by the affected service rather than assuming one edit updates all of them.
Update home and work locations
On Android, open Settings → Google → Manage your Google Account, then choose Personal info. Your device may show an intermediate profile control. Open Home address or Work address, enter the correct location, and save it.
These account home and work addresses are accessible only to you, according to Google’s guide. A separately added profile address can have a public audience. If your concern is what another person can see, inspect profile visibility as well as the saved home or work value.
Choose the right payments record
- Other addresses: In Personal info, review saved addresses and select the correct payments profile if several are listed. Edit or remove the relevant entry.
- Legal address: In Google payments settings, select the correct payments profile and edit its legal address. This identifies the profile and is different from a map location.
- Card billing address: Open the payment method in Google payments, select its edit control, and update that card’s billing information.
A failed card payment can involve the issuer’s billing record, so compare the address with your bank’s current information. Updating a Google home address is not a substitute for correcting the billing address attached to the payment method.
Handle country changes carefully
Google does not let you change the country of an existing payments profile. Moving countries may require a different profile under the relevant service’s rules. Review those rules and existing subscriptions before creating or closing anything; do not change countries simply to work around a price or eligibility restriction.
After saving, return to the specific record and check the new value. If an old address appears in a checkout form, inspect that form’s source, such as browser autofill or the merchant’s own account. Do not delete all saved addresses to troubleshoot one stale suggestion, and do not assume an account edit redirects an order that a merchant has already accepted.
