Google Account Linking can connect an outside service’s features to a Google product. If linking will not finish, check the Google identity, the provider account, and the consent flow rather than assuming the Google password is wrong.
Confirm the type of connection
Account Linking can let Google use a provider’s features, such as playing content from a music service. Sign in with Google identifies you to the provider and is a separate feature.
You can have one relationship without the other, or more than one link with the same provider. Check which operation the app is asking you to complete.
Check both account identities
- Confirm the selected Google Account.
- Check the provider profile and subscription you intend to link.
- Use the provider’s legitimate sign-in page when the flow requests it.
- Read which information or features will be shared.
- Complete the confirmation, then return to the Google product.
Google’s guide notes that providers implement this process differently. Do not assume a button label or sequence from another app will be identical.
Locate the failure stage
If the provider cannot authenticate you, use its account-support route. If Google reports an authorization or configuration error, preserve the non-sensitive error text and consult the developer or administrator as directed.
If the flow completed but the feature is absent, check that the intended provider account and service entitlement were linked. A basic free profile may differ from the subscription you meant to use.
Inspect existing links before removing them
Review the provider in Google’s linked-app settings. Read the connection type and details. Removing a link can disable features on devices signed in to the account.
If you retry a supported linking process, avoid connecting a different profile accidentally. Do not repeatedly create new provider accounts to get past a failed consent screen.
Respect privacy and organization limits
Approve only the sharing needed for the intended feature and read the provider’s policy. Removing a link later does not necessarily delete information already shared.
For work or school identities, ask whether the app and data flow are approved. Do not weaken account protection or move organization data to a personal identity as a linking workaround.
