If Sign in with Google opens the wrong profile on another website, check both the selected Google identity and the website’s existing session. Logging out of one does not necessarily end the other.
Identify the two accounts involved
Read the complete Google address in the sign-in chooser and the account details shown inside the website. A shared name or photo can hide the fact that two Google identities lead to different customer profiles.
Check whether the website is already signed in before you press its Google button. An existing website session can explain why it appears to skip the choice you expected.
Choose the intended Google identity
- Save any work in the website.
- Use the website’s own sign-out control if the wrong profile is active.
- Begin its supported Sign in with Google flow again.
- Select the correct full Google address; use Add another account if needed.
- Confirm the existing website profile and data after entry.
Google’s guide describes both a generic button and a personalized button showing a previously used identity. Read the address instead of approving the familiar-looking button automatically.
Do not disconnect everything as a first step
Removing a Google connection can stop working access without fixing the website’s account mapping. First establish which Google identity originally opened the desired account.
If the website was originally registered with another login method, ask whether it supports linking Google to that same account. Google’s troubleshooting guide says providers implement multiple sign-in methods differently.
Verify the actual result
Check a known subscription, workspace, saved item, or profile detail. A successful sign-in to an empty account is not proof that the correct relationship was restored.
If the same Google identity still reaches the wrong profile, contact the website’s support through its known channel. Provide the relevant account identifiers and symptom without sending passwords, verification codes, or private authentication URLs.
For work or school use
Use the organization-approved identity and app. Do not move company data into a personal profile merely to avoid an account-selection problem. The administrator may need to review the permitted connection.
