Fix Discord Member Screening Questions Not Showing on Mobile Devices

When you try to set up Member Screening on your Discord server using a mobile device, the questions section may not appear at all. This issue typically happens because the mobile app does not support editing Member Screening questions directly. The feature requires you to use the desktop or web version of Discord to add, edit, or remove screening questions. Why Member Screening Questions Are Missing on Mobile

Discord’s mobile app for Android and iOS has a simplified interface for server management. The Member Screening feature, which requires you to add custom questions that new members must answer before accessing the server, is not fully supported on mobile. The mobile app only shows a basic toggle to enable or disable the screening feature. It does not display the question editor or any existing questions you may have created.

The technical reason is that the mobile app’s server settings panel is designed for quick adjustments, not for complex configuration workflows. The question editor is part of the desktop and web client’s full settings interface. When you open Membership Screening on mobile, the app loads only the enable/disable switch and the list of recent joiners. The question management section is omitted entirely.

This limitation applies to all mobile versions of Discord as of 2025. The only workaround is to use the Discord desktop app for Windows or macOS, or the web version at discord.com/app. Once you add or edit questions on a desktop client, they sync to your server immediately and are visible to new members joining from any device, including mobile.

Steps to Add or Edit Member Screening Questions on Desktop

You need access to a computer or a mobile browser set to desktop mode. The steps below assume you have the “Manage Server” permission on the Discord server.

1. Open Discord on a desktop computer or web browser
   Launch the Discord desktop app for Windows or macOS, or go to discord.com/app and log in. If you are on a mobile device, open your browser and request the desktop version of the site. On Chrome for Android, tap the three-dot menu and check “Desktop site.” On Safari for iOS, tap the AA icon and select “Request Desktop Website.”
2. Select your server from the left sidebar
   Click the server icon where you want to enable or edit Member Screening. The server must have Community enabled. If it does not, you need to convert it to a Community server first via Server Settings > Enable Community.
3. Open Server Settings
   Click the server name at the top-left corner of the screen, then click “Server Settings” from the dropdown menu.
4. Navigate to Membership Screening
   In the left sidebar under the “Moderation” section, click “Membership Screening.” This opens the screening configuration page.
5. Toggle the screening feature on if it is off
   At the top of the page, click the toggle switch next to “Enable Membership Screening.” The switch turns green when enabled.
6. Scroll down to the Questions section
   Below the toggle, you will see a list of default questions and a button labeled “Add a Question.” If no questions appear, the list is empty.
7. Click “Add a Question” to create a new question

9. Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page
   This applies all changes to your server. New members who join after this point will see the screening questions on any device, including mobile.

If Member Screening Questions Still Do Not Appear After the Fix

New members do not see any questions when joining from mobile

Ensure that the screening feature is enabled. Go back to Server Settings > Membership Screening on desktop and confirm the toggle is green. Also check that at least one question is saved in the list. If the feature is on but no questions exist, new members will see a blank screening page with no prompts.

Existing members cannot see screening questions

Member Screening only applies to new members who join after the feature is enabled. Existing members are not prompted to answer questions. If you want existing members to complete the screening, you must remove them from the server and have them rejoin. This is not recommended for large servers.

The “Add a Question” button is grayed out on desktop

This happens when you do not have the “Manage Server” permission. Only server administrators and members with the appropriate role can edit screening questions. Ask the server owner or an admin to grant you the permission or make the changes themselves.

Questions appear on desktop but not on the mobile server settings page

This is normal. The mobile app does not display the questions in the settings. However, new members joining from mobile will still see the questions when they attempt to enter the server. To verify that the questions are working, test by joining the server from a different account on a mobile device.
